Bio:
Dr Tapan Shah is currently a Lead Scientist at the Global Research Center of General Electric in Bangalore. His research primarily focuses on using AI and machine learning to create Asset Performance Management applications for the transportation, healthcare, and energy sectors. He has deep technical expertise in the areas of extreme classification, matrix factorization, anomaly detection, online learning, and Bayesian methods. Several of his AI based solutions have been deployed as analytical products leading to significant productivity as well as financial impact. He has a strong publication record with 6 filed patents (1 granted) and several publications in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. His other professional activities include AI expert on Cambridge Publishers’ advisory boards and mentoring of younger data scientists. Prior to joining General Electric in 2014, Tapan was a PhD scholar (2008-13) at the School of Technology and Computer Science at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research.
